Do Now: We celebrate the fourth of July today by having Barbaques, watching fireworks,dressing in red white and blue, and having parties.
The way we celebrate the fourth of july compares with the picture on pg 236 because in the picture, everyone is celebrating,smiling, eating a big meal together, and having a good time.


1.The purpose of the Second National bank of the United States was to regulate state banks.

2.Jackson opposed the Second National Bank because they thought that the Constitution did not give Congress the authority to create it in the first place.

3.Jackson's opponents recognized that the state banks were more inclined to make loans to poorer farmers in the South and West.. Jackson's people, but Jackson described the Bank as a "monster" and said "I will kill it" They created a bill to renew the bank's charter.

4. The Second Bank became "pet banks", so Jackson ordered the Secretary of the Treasury to take the money out of the bank and deposit it in select state banks.

I favor the federal government, because the federal government controls the Country as a whole.

1. The path that lead to Andrew Jackson's presidency was that he was always rambunctious and outgoing growing up. When he was older, he joined the military, lead the troops that forced the British out of New Orleans, became known as a strong leader and "the Hero of new Orleans", and with his popularity he ran for president, but lost to Adams and Clay, but won the next term because of his relations with the people.

2.The Indian Removal Act lead to the Trail of Tears because when the Indians were removed from their territory goverenment officials signed a treaty w/ some Cherokee representatives who favored relocation, and so the Cherokee's were lead west in a deadly and dangerous march to Oklahoma, (their new territory). 4,000 Indians died on the journey.

3.The National Bank was a center of controversey because Jackson opposed it because he thought it went against the Constitution.

1818 Congress passes tariff on British goods. A tariff is raised in 1824 and 1828
North :D- industrialized; want all Americans to buy American goods
South:'(- agricultural; forced to buy more expensive American goods (British goods cheaper)

- states that any state could nullify or reject any law
passed by Congress (i.e tariff law) that the state thought violated the constitution or was not in the best interests of state.

Nullification theory- concept that states have the right to reject federal laws.
